1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Vernsa for Business — a product owned and operated by Apaxaa ("we", "our", "us") — collects, uses, shares, and protects the information you provide when you use our business platform and related services.
We designed Vernsa with a simple principle in mind: the data you share with us should only be used to deliver the service you asked for. This policy describes what that means in practice.
By using Vernsa for Business, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please don't use the service.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in a few ways — what you provide directly, what we collect automatically when you use the service, and what we receive from trusted partners.
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information — your name, work email, business name, and contact details when you sign up or join the waitlist.
- Business verification data — details you provide to verify your business, including registration information, country of operation, and identity documents where legally required.
- Transaction information — the recipients you add, the payments you make, the amounts, the references, and the memo fields you fill in.
- Support & communications — messages you send to us through the contact form, email, or in-app support.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device & connection data — device type, operating system, browser, IP address, and general location (country/city level).
- Usage data — pages you visit, features you use, actions you take, and how often you use the service.
- Cookies & similar technologies — see section 9 below for details.
2.3 Information from partners
- Payment & banking partners — transaction confirmations, settlement status, and reference data we need to complete your payments.
- Verification partners — results of identity and business checks where legally required.
- Fraud prevention partners — signals that help us detect and prevent fraudulent activity.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to run the service, keep it secure, and improve it over time. Specifically, we use it to:
- Create and manage your business account.
- Process payments, payouts, and receipts you initiate.
- Verify your identity and your business where required.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud and security threats.
- Send service communications — confirmations, status updates, and important notices.
- Respond to your questions and provide customer support.
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and tax obligations.
- Improve our product, features, and user experience.
- Send marketing communications where you've opted in (you can opt out any time).
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it to train external machine-learning models. We do not use it for advertising on third-party platforms.
4. Legal basis for processing
Where required by law (for example, under the Nigeria Data Protection Act or similar laws in other jurisdictions), we process your information on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract — to provide the service you've signed up for.
- Legal obligation — to comply with anti-money-laundering, tax, and financial regulations.
- Legitimate interests — to prevent fraud, secure our systems, and improve the product.
- Consent — for marketing and other optional uses; you can withdraw consent at any time.
5. Sharing & disclosure
We share your information only where necessary to deliver the service, comply with the law, or protect our users and systems. This includes:
5.1 With service providers
We work with partners who help us run the service — payment processors, banking partners, cloud hosting providers, identity verification services, and customer communication platforms. These partners are contractually obligated to handle your information only for the purposes we specify.
5.2 With other users
When you send money through Vernsa, certain details — such as your business name and the reference or memo you provide — are visible to the recipient. We do not share more than is needed for the payment to be understood and reconciled.
5.3 For legal reasons
We may share information when required by law, regulation, court order, or a lawful request from a regulatory or law enforcement body. Where we are legally allowed to notify you, we will.
5.4 In business changes
If Vernsa or Apaxaa is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction. We'll notify you before that happens and let you know about any change in privacy practices.
6. How we protect your data
Security is built into every layer of Vernsa. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, strictly limit internal access to production systems, and continuously monitor for unusual activity.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your business account is active, and for a period afterwards as required by financial, tax, and anti-money-laundering laws. When your data is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it.
- Transaction records — retained for the period required by applicable financial regulation.
- Account data — retained while your account is active, plus a legal-hold period after closure.
- Marketing data — retained until you opt out.
- Support conversations — retained for a reasonable period to help resolve recurring issues.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Restrict or object to certain processing activities.
- Port your information to another provider in a structured format.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing like marketing.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Cookies & tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how the service is used, and detect suspicious activity.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from using parts of Vernsa for Business.

10. International transfers
